Strike up the Anthem, the 2007 MLS Season is here
By: Bob | April 6th, 2007
Forget Beckham coming to America, new shirts sponsors and a new team in Canada. The surest sign that MLS has arrived as a soccer league is that it now has an anthem. The little clip provided by the league makes it sound a bit militaristic, but I am a sucker for anthems so I like it. The season starts tomorrow. We have a new section that compiles all the posts from the MLS blogs. If you follow the league, sign up for the RSS feed or for the email updates.
This would normally be the time when I would offer up my predictions on how things are going to end up, but instead of doing that I will only make one prediction. I predict that I will be following the league closer than ever before thanks to the MLS bloggers on this site and around the blogosphere. Citizen journalism has certainly changed the way sports are covered and I happen to think we are all better off because of it.
In case you missed any of the 2007 MLS season previews so ably crafted by our Offside blog crew or if you simply want to use them as a reference, here’s the complete list. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved. I feel like I know a lot more about the teams and the league and that is a very, very good thing.
Chicago Fire Season Preview
Chivas USA season preview
Colorado Rapida Season Preview
Columbus Crew Season Preview
DC United Season Preview
Kansas City Wizards Season Preview
New England Revolution Season Preview
Real Salt Lake Season Preview
Red Bull New York Season Preview
If you are looking for previews for the Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas you are shit out of luck. Just kidding, we still need bloggers for both teams so get in touch if you are interested. In the meantime, Jeff from It’s a Simple Game offers up his Houston and Dallas previews.
Enjoy the opening weekend.
