Support Football for Good and Win a Trip to the Showdown in Chinatown
By: Daryl | June 12th, 2009
After all the Ronaldo transfer talk and football fans acting like idiots, let’s refresh our blog palates with something more wholesome.
In the above video, likeably silly NBA star Steve Nash is promoting Football for Good (an organization set up by Athletes for Africa and the Steve Nash Foundation, aimed at creating sustainable football academies in war torn areas of African) by travelling around Europe to nutmeg a variety of players. Credit the man for ‘megging Rino Gattuso and living to tell.
The reason he’s slipping the ball between all those players legs – Joe Cole, Del Piero, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Kaka and Henry – is to recruit them for the Showdown in Chinatown on June 24th.
If you’re not familiar from last year, Showdown in Chinatown is basically a big game of pickup soccer played in Sara Delano Roosevelt Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan featuring football, basketball and other celebrities.
Here’s a snazzily edited video of highlights from last year’s event:
Dave also wrote a great first-hand report of the action on Red Bulls Offside.
Sounds like something you want to see?
You can win an all expenses paid trip to New York for the 2009 Showdown in Chinatown (again, June 24th) by donating $5 or more to Football for Good. Click here to donate now and stand a chance at winning.

D’oh! Thanks Yevy, been corrected.
For anyone reading this after the correction, you should be able to work out what the typo was from Yevy’s comment.

I’ve changed the link so it goes to the http://www.football-for-good.com page. From there you should be able to click either of the two links (where it says “Click here to join the dream”) and donate that way.
