I should clarify that I’m only speaking about TV commentators. There are many, many extremely good radio commentators out there in the sporting world.

It probably has something to do with listening to Wizards TV announcers all season. But, Dave O’Brien and Wynalda are GREAT. I can see people not happy with O’Brien. But, Wynalda is not just one of the better soccer commentators, he’s one of Americas best commentators for ALL sports.

And I pretty much hated him during the world cup. I had to come around and realize that just because I disagree with him, doesn’t mean he sucks at his job. Not to mention, it’s so refreshing for someone to just say what everyone in the room is thinking.

Seriously, if the NFL can only muster one or two bearable pairings for commentators, we can’t be upset about O’Brien and Wynalda.

As for Foudy. I do like her. But, I still resent her quite a bit for her defense of the whole Hope Solo situation.

Oooh Shane, thats a doozie to bring up. Its a bit of a misnomer that fans didn’t go to SJ games and thats why the team left. From what I understand, its a combo of frustrations with SJ State over Spartan stadium and AEG thinking they’d have better luck getting their own stadium built in a diff market. Funny how that still hasn’t worked out for Houston – but I refuse to be a bitter SJ fan so moving on…

When I have more time to do the research, a “why did they leave?” post over at the sj blog sounds appropriate.

Great game. As for that comment about San Jose fans: maybe they should attend the games in the future or else why did they lose the team in the first place?

Point #8 is well taken, as we Houston soccer fans are lovin’ the addition of the Dynamo and their dynasty (all two years of it).

I was at last years Cup in Dallas. I don’t remember the musical entertainment (at half I believe it was some Dallas-based group that ended up taking off their over-shirts to reveal Dynamo orange colors. No bias at all I would have liked Placido Domingo.

Point #2 is also a good one. DeRo is a quality player who always manages to make significant contributions. If only he was not Canadian . . .

Point 1 is well taken, but come on, O’Brien is still garbage. After DeRosario’s goal, all we heard about were The Curse of the Bambino (WTF?) and Robert F’ing Kraft. He got totally distracted from the game to talk about a bunch of retarded stuff, and of course the asshat Wynalda gets caught up in it. I liked Foudy in the booth as she added good insight, but O’Brien still has a long way to go to having any kind of quality.

jimmy eat world were playing inside RFK, and they piped their sound through the PA. If you’ve ever been to a baseball game there, you know how anything in the PA sounds. Free pass.

When I surfed by at halftime all I saw was the lead singer of Jimmy Eat World’s boob flopping around. If the FCC really wants to make a difference, they should realize when it comes down to potential boobs, Janet Jackson’s ain’t so bad.
