A not so Major League interview

When MLS signed the deal with YouTube a few weeks ago they probably didn’t have video clips like the one above in mind. That is Chivas USA’s Jesse Marsch being interviewed by Fox Soccer Channel’s Jeremy St. Louis who opens up with a tough question and then probably wishes there were some drunken fans around to steal his microphone.

  • I was asked prior to this interview (a few days prior) about what was my most embarassing moment as a broadcaster - and I struggled to come up with something good. I should have known I'd have something good to be embarassed about in short order.

Thanks for posting this/commenting on it. I was wondering how I could link it to my Facebook.

    Best,

    Jeremy St.Louis
  • He's such a dork..hehehehe

Hahah, nice. I'll be sure to check that out on Youtube.

Ouch, that has to be even tougher to swallow than failed attempts to convince wannabe actresses that you're a professional athlete in a top league.

My all time favorite instance of a sports interview gone wrong: 2001, the Arizona Diamondbacks have just won an NLCS playoff game in extra innings. Second baseman Tony Womack, who delivered the game winning hit, is about to be interviewed by Tim McCarver. Womack is standing on the field wearing headphones, being embraced by a middle aged woman, as McCarver begins the interview from the booth.

McCarver: "Tony, congradulations! Is that your mother down there with you?"
Womack: "No Tim, that's my wife."

Too bad Marsh was so taken aback that he couldn't think of a way to make fun of the announcer a bit more. Otherwise, thanks to St. Louis for getting the world to take MLS seriously.
