The Best/Worst Dives in Football
By: Daryl | July 2nd, 2009If you’re in the crowd that considers diving the biggest evil in world football, then the video above collects some of the worst offenders ever seen and will probably make you want to put a fist through your computer screen.
But if you’re in the crowd that finds blatant – and blatantly unconvincing -dives to be first rate physical comedy, then the above video showcases soccer’s best slapstick moments and should give you a nice little chuckle.
I’m in the latter camp, especially when the playacting is set to a parody of a James Blunt song.
My particular favourites are Rivaldo’s “the thigh bone’s connected to the face bone” routine (0:55 in the video) and the infamous double dive between Duisburg coach Norbert Meier and FC Köln midfielder Albert Streit (1:27 in the video).
If you’ve got vid of any other chuckle-worthy dives, please share it with the rest of the class in the comments.
