The Brawl at the Beach
By: Bob | November 10th, 2006I think the fact that I haven’t seen the sun in a couple of weeks is making me pay way more attention to the Beach Soccer World Cup in sunny Brazil than I probably should. The tournament is down to its final four, but the bigger news is the brawl that took place following yesterday’s quarterfinals match between Argentina and Uruguay. Two late goals that sealed the victory for Uruguay and a disputed ruling sent the Argentina players into a rage that led the Uruguay players to flee for their lives and try to lock themselves in the medical room for safety. The video of the action is below and it is not as dramatic as it might sound. What is dramatic is the goal that gave Uruguay the victory. It was a marvelous shot off of a buried sand castle shovel and into the back of the net.
