The Champions League Semifinals are Set

By: Bob | April 11th, 2007

pippo-celebrates.jpgAfter all the months and all the games only four teams remain in the 2006-07 Champions League. Depending on your point of view, it is either anticlimactic or exciting that three of the four teams come from England. AC Milan will have to do its part to represent the rest of Europe.

The first legs of the semifinals will be played on April 24 and 25 with the return legs set for May 1 and 2. It is hard to predict which team has the most momentum heading into the semifinals. Manchester United obviously are riding high after spanking Roma on Tuesday. Liverpool have been consistently good throughout the competition and many of their players have experience lifting the trophy. Chelsea are a team of late goal wonders and they could be poised to take their first European Cup. AC Milan haven’t been spectacular in Serie A or the Champions League, but they do deserve credit for going into Munich Wednesday and beating Bayern. They are a dangerous team.

Manchester United v. AC Milan

My pick: I think Manchester United just will have too much for AC Milan to handle. We saw on Tuesday that they have the ability to dismantle teams and while AC Milan has more experience than Roma their defense will have a hard time containing Manchester United even if the Red Devils are banged up.

Chelsea v. Liverpool

My pick: For some reason I just see Liverpool as a team destined to win the cup again. I think I have picked against Chelsea almost every round and they will probably prove me wrong again. The talent edge goes to Chelsea. The undefined edge goes to Liverpool. It should be a great pairing. I’m going with Liverpool.

er italy is a violent corrupt nation.recent events can testify to that.i was i milan on business 7 weeks ago and i've never seen such utter corruption even compared to indonesia where i travel frequently.it was truly inbelievable and indeed laughable and made me realise how the scandal in the italian 1st division was so possible.
  • Forza campione
MILAN WILL WIN BECAUSE I SQUADRI ITALIANI SONO I PIU BRAVI NEL MONDO, E ACMILAN E UNO DEL PIU MIGLIORE!! FORZAAAAAAAA!! I want it to be a Milan - Chelsea final with Milan of course holding the trophy!! & if not.. Italy still won the one that matters most :P :D

i prediction in the final is Man u vs. Chelsea.I;m hoping chelsea will win thier first CL cup. The 2 best clubs in the English league. This will prove the EPL is the best in the world. A lot of people hate chelsea because they have world claass players and is a rich club, which i think is jealousy. People say Chelsea have no history, but this is the year that it will prove people wrong.

manchester united is obviously going to win it . but the final , in my opinion will be man u vs liverpool.

  • Nelly
I want Milan to win, but if Man U go to the final, I'll be supporting whoever's against them.

    I'm supporting Chelsea after Milan.
  • gelz85
Not alot of love and support out there for chelsea, but i can see why so many find it hard to cheer for a team that just keeps on winning. Yes they have a huge payroll and big money backin alot of their recent success, but like the yankees of baseball they continue to win eventhough most (other then their own supporters) root for them to fail. Chelsea will beat liverpool in what will be one amazing semi final.
  • adrian
well i can think of one small but huge word patrick.........................JEALOUSY
  • What's wrong with the English?
  • ballack's missing hair
LOL, laurie! i'm also rooting for the nonenglish club, but i won't mind any of them coming through as long as they give us good, memorable games.

Chelsea v. MU in Champions League final.
Chelsea v. MU in FA Cup final.
Chelsea v. MU in EPL final (title race)

Chelsea will win them all. Mmmuahahaha...
  • Who I want to win: Milan, because they're not English.

    Who will win: ManU
  • Ian
Agreed. I think it'll be an all-red final, with Liverpool v. Man U. I just hope Milan gives Manchester a better fight than Roma did in that second leg, and who knows - if they play their absolute best, they could do it, but Manchester just looked unstoppable yesterday. Prediction: Man U over Liverpool in a great one.
  • I have to say I see a Man U. vs. Liverpool final. I'm rooting for Liverpool.
  • Do I hear ManU v. Chelsea???? With ManU taking the crown, this will be an awesome Champions league this year.
  • Sam
ManU over Liverpool in one of the greatest matches in history.
  • Chris
In 2005 Milan played Man.United in the knockout stages and won both games 1-0. United have got stronger since then and Milan have got older.
  • adrian
man utd vs chelsea.man utd to win the european cup.
  • Peter
Milan vs. Chelsea with Milan winning!
  • ana
My hope would be for a Milan v. Liverpool re-match. With Milan not blowing a 3-0 lead this time around. But unless we can score a few more goals or the defense hold up like it did today but better. I don't see Milan getting pass Man Utd. Sadly :(
