The Concussion made him think the Opponent was a Ball

By: Bob | November 15th, 2006

The video below comes to us from Ukraine where things got a bit ugly during a reserve match between Dynamo Kiev and CSKA last week. Dynamo keeper Oleksander Rybka took a little exception to CSKA’s Serhiy Matyuk challenge in the box and proceeded to put a beat down on Matyuk. This inspired CSKA coach and role model for the children Yuri Maximov to race onto the pitch and pop Rybka in the face, a dumb enough move by itself, but one compounded by the fact Rybka was coming off of a concussion from the previous match and suffered another one in the collision.

“Rybka really should not have behaved in this way,” Dynamo president Ihor Surkis told Sport Express. “I believe his aggressive action was linked to his new concussion.”

I’m not a doctor nor do I play one on television, but somehow I think that most people who suffer a concussion are likely to turn violent. It is a novel excuse, however, so next time I do something stupid (probably within the next hour or so) I will blame it on the concussion I experienced when I was 7 and fell out of a tree.
