The Dog Days Continue for Jose Mourinho

yorkshire-terrier.jpgA story of a man being arrested following a dispute with the police regarding his dog’s inoculation status is normally not cause for front page news but when the man in question is Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho a non-story becomes a tabloid writer’s wet dream. ‘Jose in the Dog House’, ‘Mad Dog Mourinho’, ‘Jose’s Dog-ba’ – you can probably come up with some better ones yourself.

There are a couple of interesting aspects of this story to me. The first is that Mourinho owns a Yorkshire Terrier. There are some who are of the belief that people own dogs that resemble themselves. According the experts at Wikipedia, the majority of Yorkshire Terriers “meet the breed standard for a confident, vigorous and self-important personality.” Sounds about right. Plus it is easy to picture Mourinho with a little lap dog. We’ve all seen how John Terry jumps at his every command.

The other thing of interest from this major media event is that the dog in question is named Gullit. Makes you wonder how Ruud Gullit feels about that. The dog Gullit apparently escaped during Mourinho’s showdown with the police and Paddy Power have opened up a book to allow you to bet where it will show up with the favored odds being inside Jose’s manbag. I’m betting my pension fund that Wayne Rooney ate it for breakfast.

8/1 Inside Jose’s manbag
10/1 Battersea Dog’s Home
12/1 Stamford Bridge
12/1 Paddy Power’s Kings Road shop
14/1 Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham
25/1 Wembley
50/1 Wimbledon dog track
80/1 At Huddersfield Town’s Galpharm Stadium – Home of The Terriers
100/1 In the boot of Roman Abramovich’s car
100/1 In Alex Ferguson’s office
250/1 Playing with the Queen’s corgis at Buckingham Palace
500/1 London Zoo
500/1 Isle of Dogs
500/1 In a Damien Hirst exhibition
1000/1 In The FA Cup on Cup Final Day

How adorable would that be if this little dog popped out of the FA Cup? It would definitely take the cake as cutest animal on the planet if it did (sorry Knut and twin baby koalas!)
  • I just love that he sped home to save a Yorkie. A Yorkie!
  • I just knew you was gonna do it LOL

Besides what's wrong with naming animals after Chelsea or Chelsea players?

My 13yr old Ginger Cat is called Ruudi (after Ruud Gullit)

My 4 yr old Black Cat is called Chelsea.. hey why not?!?!

And the latest addition is a four month old tortoise shell kitten called Luca after Gianluca Vialli.

My other two animals are called Mischa (Luca's Mum) and Jack who is a cross shitsu terrier. Yeah I know nothing to do with Chelsea.. hey I can't win everytime LOL LOL!!

KTBFFH for Maddie who is a Blue TOO!!!
