The Footbag Dynasty that is Vaclav Klouda

It is almost hard to believe that for the past 28 years the International Footbag Players’ Association (IFPA) has been holding a world championship. It seems like just yesterday that the stoners from high school were playing hacky sack for the love of the game and not for fabulous prizes. The world championship is here to stay and we might as well be reconciled to the fact that Vaclav Klouda will lift the freestyle football trophy once again.
Klouda is to hacky sack what Lyon is to French football. He doesn’t lose. At the age of 20 the kid from Prague already has five footbag world championships and four European championships under his belt. Only the legendary Pete Irish has won as many World Titles as Klouda.
The competition will be trying to knock off Klouda this week at Disney World during the World Championships. It is hard to imagine anyone doing any better than this. I think my stoner friends and I once kept it up 10 times before we gave up and went to eat some Doritos.

At Disney, will it be on ESPN, after the 2005 US Poker Championships. Or will they squeeze it in between the 2003 Cheerleading Championships and the 1997 World Strongest’s Man Contest? Gawd, they suck.
