The Future of Football
By: Daryl | July 14th, 2007
My lifelong dream of virtual reality football moved a step closer this week, when Nintendo announced a new remote called the Wii Balance Board that responds to movements in weight and balance to control on screen events. The new technological thingamajiggy will be used for a game called Wii Fit, which is mostly step aerobics and yoga poses (boo!) but also features a game that “involves shifting your weight to control a soccer player as he heads the ball” (yay!)
So now it’s only a matter of time until someone (me, for example) can take advantage of technology and play 90 minutes in the comfort of my futuristic living room. Then when I’m finished I can hop in my laser shower to clean off before taking my flying car to the pub. Several hours later that same car will fly me home on auto-pilot because I’m too happily inebriated to drive. The future looks bright.
