The Highest Paid Football Managers
By: Bob | April 18th, 2007
We know that the highest paid football players make some serious money and so do the richest football clubs, but what about the coaches who coach the rich players on the rich clubs? Surprise, surprise, they aren’t crying poor either.
Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho once again tops the list of highest paid football managers compiled by France Football magazine. Given his lack of success this season at Real Madrid you’d have to say that Fabio Capello is overpaid, but not as much as Sven-Goran Eriksson who has been paid royally not to coach England. Seeing Giovanni Trapattoni on the list is surprising as well.
Highest Paid Football Managers in 2006
1. José Mourinho (Chelsea) – 10 million Euros
2. Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) – 6.1 million Euros
3. Fabio Capello (Real Madrid) – 5.8 million Euros
4. Sven-Goran Eriksson (ex-England) – 5.2 million Euros
5. Guus Hiddink (Russia) – 5 million Euros
6. Giovanni Trapattoni (Salzburg) – 4.6 million Euros
7. Frank Rijkaard (Barcelona) – 4.5 million Euros
8. Arsene Wenger (Arsenal) – 4.4 million Euros
9. Roberto Mancini (Inter Milan) – 3.4 million Euros
10. Felix Magath (ex-Bayern Munich) – 2.8 million Euros
10. Rafael Benítez (Liverpool) – 2.8 million Euros
