The “I Hate International Week” Fun Filler Video
By: Laurie | October 8th, 2008Chris and I have decided that we hate international break week. There is essentially nothing to write about in the footy world as all players everywhere prepare for the upcoming international games. (With the obvious exception of the internationally isolationist MLS, who continue to believe that if they just ignore international breaks long enough, they will go away.)
For lack of exciting news, I bring you this humorous ad, which I believe comes from Slovakia(?)

Imagine if all jobs had international week…that would be awesome.

I think they should play the club games anyway. If your club loses a match or two during international play because your stars are gone, tough. Get better subs. It would inject some unpredictability into league competitions and force some of the bigger clubs to have more balanced squads, instead of a starting 11 full of superstars and bench full of scrubs.

@BMatthews: nice. As long as you’re not the one who gets called up for international duty and has to spend the weekend at an office overseas.

@ben, you think players come down with mysterious injuries now during international weeks. What dirty business will the clubs pull to keep their stars out of national teams if they are forced to play while their stars are gone?

The Premiership doesn’t resume until the 18th, therefore as the Premiership finished on the weekend of the 4th/5th October, count the days… more than a WEEK!!

Some of us are actually a bit glad that it’s international week, because it allows players with minor injuries to be ready for the showdown with the Evil Empire of Spain when leagues are rolling again.
