The Mysterious Goal That Wasn’t In Watford-Reading

By: chris | September 21st, 2008

We’ve seen some bad goals called before. Last weekend in Serie A there was a controversial did it or didn’t it? cross the line goal. But nothing like this.

It’s not a question of whether the entire ball crossed the line, it’s a question of what drugs the linesman was on when he, the only person in the stadium even remotely under this impression, saw the ball in the goal. It wasn’t even within the frame of the goal mouth, but ref Stuart Attwell blew his whistle and pointed to the centre circle.

Luckily he won’t have to worry about calling a non-goal in his next game, as this is likely his last.

Of course, it was decisive, allowing Reading to take an undeserved point from Watford.

Good call by the ref, as far as I'm concerned, Watford doesn't deserve three points.

    How bizzare.
