The Offside Done Good

By: Daryl | February 18th, 2008

Soccerlens awardThe results of the SoccerLens 2007 Awards are in and we’re humbled to find that The Offside has done very well indeed. Here’s a rundown of what we won:

Best Overall Blog - Editors’ Choice (and Readers’ Choice runner-up)

Best Serie A Blog - Editors’ Choice - for Italy Offside (and Roma Offside was Readers’ Choice runner-up)

Best Blog Design - Readers’ Choice (and Editors’ Choice runner-up)

Best Blog Community - Readers’ Choice

Best Blogger - Editors’ Choice - Laurie for LA Galaxy Offside

Best Blogger - Readers’ Choice - Chris for Roma Offside

We want to say a big thanks to everyone who voted for us, and to SoccerLens for nominating us in the first place. Clearly a lot of thought went into these awards, and we’d recommend reading all the blogs that were nominated.

Much of the credit for all this goes to Bob, who started The Offside back in the summer of 2006 and built it from the ground up. The rest of the credit goes to everyone who writes a team or league blog here on The Offside. I continue to be amazed at the talent and knowledge on display here every single day.

Chris and Laurie are both far too modest to say anything about their individual awards, and Martha the same for her Serie A award, but I’m sure everyone who reads Galaxy Offside, Roma Offside and Italy Offside will agree they got exactly what they deserved. In a good way.

It’s also great that the incredible amount of work that goes on behind the scenes at The Offside is recognized by the Best Blog Design win. As the site gets bigger and bigger it’s a miracle how clean it looks and how smoothly it all runs. Thanks guys.

Finally, the thing we’re most proud of here is the Best Blog Community Award. That means all the comments from readers and fellow bloggers that make The Offside such an enjoyable place to visit. The level of discussion across all The Offside blogs is so incredibly high (you could even say award winningly high) because of the many knowledgeable and witty people who read, write a and comment on the site every day.
