The Offside Fantasy League: Premiership Penalty Takers

List of Premiership penalty takers Today’s Friday, so it’s the last day to make any alterations to your brave eleven before gameweek 15 of The Offside Fantasy League kicks off. And if you’re struggling for points then you might want to consider one of the oldest tricks in the fantasy football book and get some penalty takers in your team. It doesn’t always work, because penalties aren’t necessarily all that regular, but it is a great way to guarantee at least one or two goals. A successful penalty is worth 20 points just like any other goal, even though the player is only twelve yards out and there are no defenders in sight.

So, as a handy reference guide, here’s a list of the 20 Premiership teams and their respective penalty takers, in order of seniority:

Arsenal – Gilberto, Robin Van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor

Aston Villa – Gareth Barry

Birmingham City – Olivier Kapo, Gary McSheffrey

Blackburn Rovers – Beni McCarthy, Jason Roberts

Bolton Wanderers – Gary Speed, Nicolas Anelka, El Hadji Diouf

Chelsea – Frank Lampard

Derby County – Steven Howard, Kenny Miller

Everton – Mikel Arteta, Andy Johnson

Fulham – David Healy

Liverpool – Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard, John Arne Riise

Manchester City – Elano Blumer, Rolando Bianchi

Manchester United – Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney

Middlesbrough – Mido

Newcastle United – Michael Owen (if ever fit,) Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka

Portsmouth – Niko Kranjcar, Matt Taylor,Sulley Muntari, Kanu (but not Mwaruari Benjani)

Reading – Nicky Shorey, Kevin Doyle

Sunderland – Michael Chopra, David Connolly (though he’s not playing much this season)

Obviously there’s nothing guaranteed about this list. It’s based on my suspect recollections and some rudimentary Googling. Some of it may very well be wrong. So if you see something that you know to be incorrect then please share in the comments and the list will get updated accordingly, and hopefully we can build up a fairly definitive list for future reference.
