The Old Two Balls on the Pitch Trick

By: Bob | April 24th, 2007

The video above comes from Croatia where apparently everyone is so upset about the Euro 2012 bid that they have decided to change the rules of football. I’ve watched it a couple of times and can’t decide whether it is fake or real. I also haven’t been able to track down a story about this. Some of the players don’t appear to be looking at the second ball while one midfielder looks like he is pointing towards it when the other ball is restarted. You can’t really tell what the reaction is after the goal is scored. What do you think?

The video is real and taken by a TV show called 'Bili Kutak', a program dedicated to the team that had the goal scored againt them.

This happened during a game between Hajduk and Medjimurje this past Saturday and was allowed by the ref because he felt the second ball did not impede the flow of the game. Hajduk ended up winning 4:2.

It looks real to me. Not sure why the linesman wouldn't have raised his flag or something.
