The Other R. Giggs in Manchester

You have to give the people at FC United of Manchester some credit for their publicity efforts. The supporter-formed semiprofessional club kick off their North West Counties Football League this Saturday against St Helens Town and will feature a Giggs in their lineup.
Rhodri Giggs, younger brother of Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs, is on the squad. A British soap opera star is also on the side’s reserve team.
FC United of Manchester averaged 6,023 fans in its inaugural season last year. The club was founded after fans balked at American business tycoon Malcolm Glazer’s purchase of Manchester United.
In their first season, United captured the title in the second division of the North West Counties Football League.
It is unknown at this time if their manager is as loony as Sir Alex Ferguson.
