Given the low status of contracts in general in U.S. football, and especially the relationship between MLS and USL, I'd imagine that if the Gals really wanted him that they'd probably end up with him. Portland might demand something in return along the lines of a couple Gals reserve teamers on loan to Portland for the season, or a friendly match in Portland so the Timbers can cash in a little on the Golden Sack and Tristan crowd... something along those lines.
