The Romance of the Underdog
By: Martha | January 28th, 2008Even the professional pundits got a little overexcited when Havant and Waterlooville went into the lead against Liverpool, squealing with joy and starting the countdown to their impossible win. I don’t think I’ve ever liked Matt Le Tissier quite so much (which isn’t really saying much, but you know what I mean).

Holy crap I just realized that Paul Merson at the start! He cleans up well, that one.

You should get footage of Jeff Stelling. He was excited as Le Tiss - Le Tiss would be - H&W are only ‘five’ mins away from his love of his life Southampton FC, who he is God with the locals.
BTW I only caught the highlights yesterday, cos on Saturday I was in Wigan, watching Chelsea win 2-1. All of the passengers on the train to Wigan went mad when news came through that H&W went 1-0 up and until Liverpool finally went 3-2 up, H&W was the major talking point.

That’s awesome. I love seeing the pro broadcasters, especially the English ones that aren’t known for being very exciting, being sincerely crazy for a football match like that. Fantastic.

Ian you watch Sky’s Soccer Saturday more often, unless u are at a game of course…. I wish I had seen that live but I was in Wigan watching Chelsea win 2-1. Trust me I have seen some classic moments… especially when Stelling’s beloved Hartlepool go a goal down or two, or they go in the lead by a goal or two. Stelling is your Hartlepool United ‘Monkey Hanger.’
If you want to know what a ‘monkey hanger’ is, search google
