The Throw-in Flip is Pretty Hip

By: Bob | October 18th, 2006

The Pies guys have linked to a pretty cool article about an amateur player in England who uses his gymnastic skills to throw a football upwards of 70 yards. Talk about a weapon. When I was little, my team had a kid who could do something similar and we’d use his throws like a corner kick. We won the league that year but then he discovered smoking and girls and his interest in somersault throws soon waned and so did my team’s fortunes. The video above is a pretty impressive display of a flip throw by the Estonian wingback Risto Kallaste.

I wonder why more players don’t risk breaking their necks to throw like that!
