The goal that shouldn't have counted ended the Stanley Cup finals in 99. Even though the horrible rule could be reviewed with instant replay there was nothing the refs could have done since the entire team began celebrating. It'll happen in the WC Final soon enough. Morganti's assistants couldn't see Gilardino playing basketball, but they could cancel Simplicio's goal for being 0.2 millimeter offside. If that 0-1 doesn't happen, the counter for the 0-2 doesn't happen either. Fiorentina played well, but they never deserved anything more than a draw.
