There are Injuries and then there are Split Scrotums

soccer_kick.jpgIf anyone ever tries to convince you that football isn’t a violent sport just have them call Shenyang Ginde player Liu Jianye and have them ask his opinion on the matter. The teenager will miss the rest of the China Super League season after sustaining a split scrotum in a match on Monday when an opponent kicked him in the nether region.

It pains us just typing that so we can hardly imagine the amount of discomfort Liu is feeling today. He might want to call up Kevin Kyle to compare testicular battle wounds.

Liu’s injury might be the second most gruesome to happen to a Shenyang Ginade player this season. In July, Guinea international Ousmane Bangoura lost sight in his right eye after his eyeball was ruptured by an opponent’s cleat.

We’re not sure what type of cleats they are using on their boots in China these days and frankly we have no intention of ever trying to find out.
