Top 10 Freestyle Tricks of 2007/8
By: Daryl | June 2nd, 2008This video does exactly what it says on the tin.
#10 Nathan Dyer (Southampton)
#9 Ricardo Quaresma (Porto)
#8 Frank Songo’o (Sheffield Wednesday)
#7 Ricardo Quaresma (Porto, again)
#6 Robin van Persie (Arsenal)
#5 Nani (Man Utd, controversial)
#4 Zdeněk Šenkeřík (Slavia Prague)
#3 Niko Kranjčar (Portsmouth)
#2 Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)
#1 Adel Taarabt (Spurs)
Some great little moments in there, and I like the replays. Some of those skills are so slick that’s it difficult to tell exactly what happened.
I’d take issue with Nani’s inclusion at #5, not so much because he was taunting (or not, depending on who you support I suppose) but mostly because skills don’t count if you’re going the wrong way.
My top three looks like this:
1) Niko Kranjčar – lot of players around him, and none of them get the ball
2) Zdeněk Šenkeřík – still can’t tell what happened, but the defender looks very much beaten
3) Robin van Persie – balls aren’t supposed to stick to your foot that tightly

Daryl, mate! Got yr numbering wrong. Taarabt is clearly off-balance & improvising. #1? It’s van Persie, because he nets it.
(Ronaldo who?)

Sam,
The #1 to #10 isn’t my list, it’s just the order that it goes in the video. 100% agree that Taarabt shouldn’t be #1.
Van Persie’s is nice, no doubt, but I like Kranjcar’s a lot more, because he takes on so many people and comes out with the ball.

That dude for Slavia Prague woulda gotten my top spot. I’ve never seen something like that before. Makes the elastico look like child’s play.
