Top 10 Goals of 2008

Trying to accurately list the top 10 goals of anything, much less a year, is merely an exercise in banging one’s head against the wall. There are very few unanimous choices, and certain people appreciate certain types of goals better. Like overhead kicks and the video above. But the video is probably the best compilation of top 10 goals I’ve seen thus far – perhaps more will come out early in 2009 – and all are spectacular goals. Which they damn well should be, because they were compiled by a site called World Goals.

The only thing I can’t shake is that zero Euro goals made the cut. Although if you want to watch Wesley Sneijder’s goal against France with a Zizou turn, just watch number 3 above. To quench your Euros thirst, however, a top 10 after the jump (particularly pleasing if you bleed Oranje).

  Great music selection for the first vid. Some fades in/out would have made it better though.

  The Zlatan goal gets my vote for goal of the year.

  The music made my ears bleed and I turned it off after goal 8.

  What is it with rap music and football compilations? They always seem to go hand-in-hand.
