By: Bob | September 19th, 2007
On the same day that UEFA head honcho Michel Platini laments the influence of money on football we learn which clubs in Europe have the highest commercial value. The advertising company BBDO are the ones who have come up with the list, which is based on evaluating brand popularity and image, as well as sources of business income. As you can see, they also take into consideration whether or not the club has a blog on The Offside.

The values are impressive! This also shows me how strong the NFL is.
Average value of an NFL team is $957 million (US Dollars)
Dallas Cowboys (Most Valuble) – $1.5 Billion
Minesota Vikings (#32 Least Valuble NFL Franchise) – $782 MillionI guess I’m suprised that number 11 (Lyon) through #25 (Lille) aren’t worth more than they are (even with the exchange rate)… Shows what the power of strong sports league management, distrubution of costs, and parody, can do…

It doesn’t seem that accurate. Man Utd was bought for 1.593 billion dollars (1.13 EUR).
I don’t know how the NFL works, but the USA has a huge population and NFL is 1 big behemoth, whereas football has smaller self-contained leagues, with some of them paying more TV money etc etc to the teams in them, and some leagues being more popular than others.
