Toto Di Natale Kicks Off Serie A With Class

By: chris | August 30th, 2008

What began as the first game of the Serie A campaign quickly became The Antonio Di Natale Show with two fantastic goals in the first 34 minutes (first up top, cheeky chip after the jump). They weren’t powerful volleys launched from the other half or zig-zag runs from the other box, they were just pure class and technique. Sort of beautiful, rather than sexy. They were also decisive, because Udinese was able to beat Palermo 3-1 on the back of those goals, putting them first in Serie A for a couple hours. Always nice, even though it probably won’t last.

  • The lob was great, but the beauty of the second goal was Gaetano D'Agostino's inch perfect pass from midfield.
  • He was outstanding the whole game. Worked his butt off! If he keeps up like this, I dont see how Lippi could overlook him for a call up.
  • Love that lob. Didn't even look like there was enough space to get the ball up and down in time.

Wow, that second one was amazing.
You gotta give credit to the pass though, that was just perfect, all the way from the centre of the field too.
And Christmas' control was just perfect.
