Transfer? I Don’t Even Know ‘Er!

“I want [Roma winger] Mancini here immediately as he is the ideal man to strengthen my squad. He could become my Cristiano Ronaldo. Money isn’t a problem for us, but it depends on whether Roma want to sell him.”

That quote, allegedly given by Sven Goran Eriksson to Il Romanista, was splashed all over the Italian press yesterday, while Roma supporters snickered, the club tripled their price on the player, and everyone else laughed out loud at Sven’s shamelessness. This morning, the Swede woke up and denied everything, no doubt blushing furiously as he did so. We know, Sven. It was the stepovers, right?
