Transfer Talk: Carlitos to Old Trafford, God to Galaxy

By: Daryl | June 10th, 2007

Carlos Tevez grimaceThere’s your regular weekday transfer gossip, and then there’s your high-octane weekend gossip, where the English tabloids cook up something special for Sunday morning. Here are all the transfer fumes worth inhaling today:

We know Carlos Tevez is leaving West Ham. It’s just a question of where he goes, how much he costs, and who it is that receives the transfer fee. Manchester United are interested and they’re thinking £12million should be enough, but first Fergie and friends want to untangle Carlitos’ complicated ownership arrangements.

Amateur therapist Big Sam Allardyce is busy transforming Newcastle United into a half-way house for troubled footballers. Fresh from signing Mark “motivation?” Viduka and Joey “too many incidents to choose from” Barton, Big Sam is now keen on returning Craig “fore!” Bellamy to the Toon, and could offer either £9million in cold hard cash, or an unhappy Michael Owen to Liverpool in exchange for the pacy little Welshman.

LA Galaxy are looking for someone to get on the end of David Beckham’s crosses, and are apparently keen on Robbie Fowler after failing to interest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Would be a coup for Galaxy and MLS, as the only signing bigger than Becks is God himself.

In the opposite of transfer talk, Ajax are adamant that midfielder Wesley Sneijder will not be heading for Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham or anywhere else in England. This either means he really isn’t leaving Amsterdam, or they want to receive as much money as possible when he does.

If Tevez goes to Man U, especially for that little amount, you’ve got to think there’s something shady going on. *cough* Tim Howard *cough*.

    We don’t want Owen.

Shady? How about Mascherano as a Scouser? Cough, cough! We don’t need Tevez. Where the fuck will he play?

Mascherano? What are you talking about? It was Liverpool who reported the shadiness of the Tevez/Masche to West Ham deal to the FA. We’re the ones who wanted to make sure everything was legal before proceeding.

Yeah, I thought that as well since Tevez and Rooney basically play the same position, but you have to admit it wouldn’t hurt your squad.

God I hope it doesn’t happen.

Funny how Newcastle the squad who wears the jailhouse stripes, is chasing all the bad boys. The EPL incarnation of the Oakland Raiders perhaps?
