Transfer Talk: Suazo to a team in Milan, Metzelder to Real Madrid

By: Bob | June 19th, 2007

davidsuazo.jpgA person could work 24 hours a day just trying to stay on top of all of the speculation and rumors during the summer transfer rumors. As fun as that might sound, it would surely be a one-way ticket to the loony bin. Here is a quick and painless dose of the insanity that is Transfer Talk. Not recommended for those with pre-existing conditions, children under five and pregnant women.

Nothing like an intercity tug-of-war to heat things up. Bizarro day is correct. Cagliari and Honduras striker David Suazo was signed, sealed and delivered to Inter Milan only to have AC Milan come in at the last moment and claim the 27-year-old as their own. Inter have not backed down and it is quite possible that this will have to be decided with guns drawn at ten paces.

There is no struggle over the future of Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta. He is going to be Juventus until he dies. Or at least until his legs give out or they can sell him to another team for more money.

Fresh off their La Liga championship, Real Madrid continue to shuffle the cards in their deck. Today they announced that Borussia Dortmund and Germany international Christoph Metzelder will be wearing all white next season. Madrid apparently have three other players in the fold, but those names have not been given. They continue to hold out hope that Kaka will wake up one morning and decided that he likes Madrid better than Milan.

Jose Antonio Reyes sure likes Madrid more than London. The Arsenal midfielder wants his loan to become permanent. I want a grilled cheese sandwich but I have no bread in my house.

While Madrid look to retool, Barcelona look to carry on with business as usual, at least if you are to believe the words of their chairman Joan Laporta. He has said that Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o will both be back, which is a bit easier to believe if Milan do in fact land Suazo.

The fun rumor of the day that probably won’t come true has Arsene Wenger leaving Arsenal for Barcelona. He’d probably want to pack Thierry Henry along in his suitcase if that were the case.

One person leaving Arsenal for certain is Jermie Aliadiere. He has signed on for three years with Middlesbrough. Boro are doing some interesting things this summer. Not sure if interesting translates to good, but interesting nevertheless.

Fabio Quagliarella has proclaimed that Manchester United have increased their bid for his services, but mum is the word coming from the Man U camp. How many quality players under 25 can one team accumulate? Not another one if Roma have their way.

You know who is crying poor these days? Jose Mourinho, that’s who. He believes that the other members of the Big Four will outspend Chelsea this transfer season. He is probably right.

After getting beaten to the punch by Chelsea for Tal Ben Haim, Newcastle has now turned their attention to Paris St. Germain defender David Rozenhnal who is also being pursued by Borussia Dortmund.

Ronzenhnal’s Czech teammate Jan Koller says that he is happy being the tallest living soccer player in Monaco and that he knows zilch about those rumors that he is taking a seat on the Reading railroad.

Franz Beckenbauer says that Miroslav Klose will be signed by Bayern Munich by the end of the summer and if the Kaiser says it, I believe it.

Attention footballers: There is a league in Portugal. Please consider playing there. If not Portugal, how about Napoli? Thank you.

If you had to choose between Napoli, Palermo and Celtic which one would you choose? Please send your responses to Gennaro Delvecchio c/o Sampdoria.
