Transfer Talk: Tevez Won’t Make a Decision Until Joorabchian Tells Him To

Carlos Tevez with flowersAll sorts of transfer rumours to sink our teeth into today. Now the Henry thing is finally put to bed, the second longest running saga involves Carlos Tevez. Carlitos’ future is still in the balance, and he’s refusing to make his mind up until after the Copa America. He rejected a move to Inter Milan and a second unnamed Italian team because they both wanted a decision sooner, while Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and – oddly – West Ham are all keen to sign the Argentine. Tevez himself has mentioned his fondness for Real Madrid, who probably won’t let a little thing like not having a coach get in the way of signing a popular player. But Tevez’ owner adviser Kia Joorabchian is insisting nothing will happen until the Copa America is over.

Tevez’ Copa America teammate Gabriel Heinze is still leaving Old Trafford, and could be headed to Liverpool. Heinze is top class and has had a rough deal at United where he’s a little under-appreciated, but it would still be huger than huge for any player to move directly between the North-West rivals, something that hasn’t happened since 1964.

Equally big news in Liverpool is the imminent arrival of coveted Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres. Seems they’ve struck a £27 million deal for the 23 year old, despite a reported last minute bid from Manchester City. Thaksin Shinawatra may have more pressing concerns at the moment though.

Atletico will replace Torres with Villarreal striker Diego Forlan. Ashame Forland didn’t make his rumoured return to England, would have been great for him to show everyone what a player he undoubtedly is after getting laughed out of Manchester United.

Jermain Defoe may be fourth choice striker at Spurs after Darren Bent’s big money arrival, but he’s planning on staying to fight for his place despite rumoured interest from just about any Premiership club you can name. I give it till Christmas.

Barcelona have already added French left back Eric Abidal to their defence, but want the big big signature of Roma’s Romanian star Christian Chivu. They’re presently in a tug of war for the defender with Inter Milan. Managerless Madrid are also circling and are ready and willing to start tugging as soon as they find something to grab on to. Let’s hope they don’t break him.
