Transfer Talk: Women & Money Ruin Everything.

By: chris | June 16th, 2009

‘Tis a glorious, glorious day. Why, you ask? Well, it’s the return of football’s most devious WAG: Mrs. Shevchenko.

Back in ‘06 Mrs. Sheva destroyed a wonderful footballing career by requesting that her hubby, Mrs. Sheva’s hubby, move to London. Things have never been the same and now the Mrs. has ’strongly suggested’ her husband move to Monaco, where they can enjoy the highest peaks of the high life.

And lo! Monaco confirmed they’ve been offered a certain Ukrainian striker today. Pray for him – Andriy knows not what he does.

Buy, buy, buy! Sell, sell, sell!

After stumping up the GDP of a mid-sized nation for a couple of attackers and going after more, Real Madrid must clean out all the old furniture to make room for the new. They’ve decided that the Oranje South phase didn’t work out so well, thus they’ll be holding a garage sale where you can buy Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar & Royston Drenthe, along with wannabe Dutchmen Gabriel Heinze, Javier Saviola & Mahamadou Diarra. Or maybe they’re just clearing out the quantity for the quality of Ronaldo’s ego.

Shockingly, Bayern have become the first club to frazzle Real with their financial demands for Franck Ribery:

“There was interest (by Real) in Ribery at a certain point, but Bayern are sticking to a very hard position. They don’t want to sell and that is why they are proposing an astronomic sum.”

He’s good – very good – but come on…he’s not that good.

But while Real are continuing their stand against financial excess, Barca, Chelsea & ManU have all lodged bids with Bayern.

And in continued financial stupidity, Liverpool have reportedly paid £18.5m for Glen Johnson. They’re not brilliant with money in the Prem, are they?

Speaking of….David Bentley will reportedly join Aston Villa for £7m after joining Tottenham for £15m just last summer. You get the feeling they could pluck sporting directors with more economic know-how from the dwellings at the London Zoo.

As Calitos’ world turns: Chelsea now appear in the drivers seat to nab a pretty Argentine named Carlos Tevez. This after losing out on every single one of their other targets, it would seem. Tevez will be leaving ManU as his skills aren’t appreciated to the necessary degree, and nothing makes one feel more desired than coming up seventh choice.

Deco & Ricardo Carvalho will bitterly leave Chelsea to join Inter, in the Milan club’s continued commitment to buy players who speak anything but Italian.

Giuseppe Rossi’s American dream – you know, the one where a super talented kid moves abroad and does bigger things than he could have stateside – has earned him a rumored move to Juventus with David Trezeguet going the other way. It’s unclear whether Villarreal will be privy to this move or if they’ll find Beppe gone and Trez sporting luggage outside the Madrigal waiting for a ride as they furiously kick the ground hands-in-empty-pockets.

Of course it should be noted with every Azzurri goal Fergie’s job of replacing Ronaldo may be getting a little easier, with ManU having that whole buy back option thing.

And finally, Chelsea & Tottenham will do battle over AZ’s Moussa Dembele, who can do this….
