Uli Hoeness doesn’t like the WAGs
By: Bob | February 13th, 2007
Uli Hoeness survived a plane crash 25 years ago, but I am not too sure he will survive today’s world where football is mixed with celebrity. The Bayern Munich general manager voiced his opinion today about David Beckham’s move from Real Madrid to the LA Galaxy, wagging his finger at the influence Mrs. Beckham and her ilk are having on football.
Speaking to the German magazine Bild, Hoeness said:
“I like David Beckham but not his wife. These are the kind of people who are the death of football. It is a pity that David must leave for Hollywood now.”
I’m not too sure why Hoeness gives a rat’s ass about Beckham’s move or his anorexic wife other than perhaps he is bitter that he couldn’t lure Goldenballs to Bayern. He of course refuses to confirm or deny that Bayern made a play for the midfielder during the recent transfer window.
I’m also not sure I agree with his assessment of Mrs. Posh. She is the death of music, perhaps, but football will long outlast her even if she is reincarnated as a frog or whatever it is that is supposed to happen when you have Tom Cruise as your spiritual guide.

Maybe Uli’s been watching the current ITV show Wags Boutique (http://wags.itv.com/index.php), where ten gold digging oxygen thieves ‘battle’ it out to see which team can make the most money with the two clothes shops the show has set them up with.

How can you not like WAGs, full stop? Life would be entirely joyless if we couldn’t talk about Totti’s and Figo’s wives!
