Upset Soccer Mom Abandons Daughter on Highway
By: Bob | April 17th, 2007
You’ll often hear professional athletes talk about how important their parents were in helping them become the successes that they are today. Whether it is teaching a lesson to an opposing player, giving a team an edge on penalty kicks or betting the retirement fund on a child’s future, parents are helping children develop into soccer players like they never have before.
Deadspin has the story of the mother of a 15-year-old in the United States who was displeased with her daughter’s play on the pitch and decided that, enough was enough, it was time to teach her a lesson on an Interstate highway.
A soccer mom, upset at her teenage daughter’s performance at a game Saturday, stopped along Interstate 80 and left her there. She said the woman yelled at her 15-year-old in her car and asked her to repeat lines about improving her performance. When the girl messed up the lines, she slapped her. Finnell said the teen told her mom to pull over along I-80 near the downtown exit, so she did. That’s when the girl says her mom yelled at her to get out. She did and her mom drove away.
If only this was a few months earlier and in Germany the girl might have scored some World Cup tickets.
