This could be a Bond movie. Or at least a an inconsequential scene from a B-movie staring a C-list star.

Uruguay went to Colombia for a World Cup Qualifier, but their kits got “lost in Panama.” It looked disastrous, as though they might have to wear the local domestic club’s shirt for an official FIFA match, but then a lot of money happened and lo, the kits showed up.

Uruguay were left sweating without even stepping out on to the pitch with an hour to go before their World Cup qualifier against Columbia, as their kit was yet to arrive. But after reportedly paying what is believed to be a large sum of cash, the Uruguayan’s gear eventually turned up after it had been ‘lost in transit’ in Panama.

It’s probably being framed in a more suspicious light than reality calls for. That’s okay. Appearances are everything.
