Vote for Us, and for Yourselves!

By: Laurie | February 6th, 2008

soccer_trophy.jpgA little over a year ago, back in fall of 2006, a guy named Bob Kellett had a vision. He wanted to create a year-round site dedicated to the beautiful game. A site filled with team blogs, each run by someone with the passion for the team. A site where soccer fans from around the world could come to read about and discuss their favorite (and not-so-favorite) soccer/football/futbol teams. (And maybe an occasional soccer-related sex scandal or two.)

Fortunately this guy had the backing of BootsnAll, a travel company that had the technical ability to make it happen.

Sixteen months later, look where we are. We have about a hundred team blogs, and a fun, exciting, vibrant community of bloggers and readers. Want proof? We’ve just received 7 nominations in the Soccerlens Best of 2007 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Bob accomplished what he set out to do, and those of us who have come after him would like nothing more than to contact him in a couple of weeks to say, “Look what your blog won.” But in order to do that, we need your help, and your votes.

We’d also like to get you, our “community,” the recognition you deserve. We at The Offside are proud of the community of bloggers, readers and commenters who gather here, and we love the (almost completely) friendly and intelligent banter on the site. We think you deserve some recognition for that, so be sure to vote for yourselves in the “Best Blog Community” poll.

And while we’re at it, we’d sure love to give our tech guys the recognition they deserve in the “Best Blog Design” category.

And some of our bloggers are up for individual awards as well.

Got your voting fingers ready? Here are the links to our nominations:

Best Overall Blog
Best Blog Design
Best Blog Community
Best Serie A Blogs (Roma Offside and Italy Offside)
Best Blogger (Roma Offside and LA Galaxy Offside)

Zzzz. This blog/site is horrible. For idiots and children. If everyone involved with it died, the world would be a better place.

Uh…yeah. And this would be why the words “almost completely” modify the words “friendly and intelligent banter” in the above post. :-)

Hahahaha ‘Parsley’: A perfect illustration of why the word ‘almost’ was used before completely!
