Weekend Junk Pile: Arsene Can’t Dance, Wolves Move Up, and Other fun Stuff

By: Laurie | April 18th, 2009

A few things that caught my attention or made me smile this week, but weren’t quite enough for a whole post.

First, is Arsene Wenger married? I’m surprised I don’t know the answer to this question, but I don’t. But if he is married, my guess is that she has an agreement with him, which is: I will stay with you if you never, ever dance in public.

Wonder if he’s single now?

(as seen on Kickette)

And just for the record, the best part of writing for The Offside’s main page is that when I visit videos like the above, I can then spend ages clicking on “next video,” and if anybody questions me, I just say, “I have to. People around the world are counting on me.”

It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.

These are The Arsenal Dancers, giving an impromptu show in a car park.

Also, how did I miss this when it was happening? The Biggest Mexican Wave? With all of last year’s Arsenal guys taking part? Anybody know how this turned out? Because when you go to the site now, it gives you a real estate ad for “Laird’s Cottage, Rothbury, Northumberland.” (Because that’s exactly the URL I’d pick first if I was looking for fancy real estate.)

And if you’ve ever wondered how the erroneously-named “Mexican Wave” got started, The Offside is, as always, one-stop shopping for this kind of news.

And guess what? Wolves are in the Prem!

I would love to share video of the fans’ elation and celebrations to get you all excited and make YOU a fan, causing you to want to run out and spend thousands of dollars buying Wolverhampton gear and stuff. I reallly would.

But Football Data Co would sue my pants off if I did.

So never mind.

(If you didn’t read Daryl’s earlier post on the topic, you need to click on the above link. It’s funny ’cause it’s true.)

And finally, this photo is actually a couple of weeks old, but Chris was nice enough to give me last weekend off, so I couldn’t use it.

(What, you think I’d give it to him to post? Pfft.)

It’s kids outside the Liverpool grounds during practice, trying to catch a glimpse of their heroes.

  • Is it just me or does Wenger dancing look remarkably like Mr Bean?
  • After seeing that picture, Travis, I'd bet good money that she does have a "you are not allowed to dance in public" rule.

Ahhhh, you can take the boys out of africa (and put them next to 6-digit priced sports cars), but you can't take the africa out of the boys (what can i say, we love dancing!)

LOL @ the url comment. WTF?
  • He is married, and he even has a daughter who's about 11, I think? She was at the Arsenal stadium opening and already looked about Arshavin's height.
