Weekend Predictions: Fergie Gets What Fergie Wants
By: Daryl | January 30th, 2009
I did it again last week, somehow managing to get all three predictions wrong. Which is quite an achievement if you think about it.
Here are three games worth watching this weekend, along with my now reliably untrustworthy attempts at clairvoyance.
Liverpool vs Chelsea, Feb 1st, 16:00
Clash of two title rivals? Or a sad battle for second place? Worth watching just to see if Rafa Benitez’s head explodes – Scanners style – under the pressure.
Odds: Liverpool 6-4, Draw 11-5, Chelsea 19-10
Chelsea at half time, draw at full time is 12-1
Salomon Kalou to score first (and possibly do “the cuffs”) 9-1
Steven Gerrard to be last goalscorer 7-1
Robbie Keane to start 1,000,000-1 (approx.)

Prediction: The result will be whatever Alex Ferguson wants it to be. And he’d be happy with 1-1.
Bonus Prediction: If Liverpool lose then tickets to the Rafa Benitez post-match press conference will fetch big money on eBay.
Hamburg vs Bayern Munich, Jan 30th, 20:30
The Bundesliga is back from that long winter break. Baby. And second place Bayern have the chance to go top tonight if they can get any points out of fourth place Hamburg, who could also take top spot with a win. Hamburg have only dropped two points at home so far, but they’ve just lost Nigel de Jong to Man City’s money and will be missing the suspended Ivica Olic. On-loan Landon Donovan will be hoping his third Bundesliga debut goes better than the last two.
Odds: Hamburg 23-10, Draw 9-4, Bayern 11-10
Bayern to come from behind and win 17-2
Landycakes hat-trick 100-1

Prediction: Bayern to win 2-1.
Numancia vs Real Madrid, January 31st, 22:00
Certain people think La Liga is already over, but Real Madrid haven’t given up yet. They should beat Numancia, and if Raul gets on the scoresheet he’ll go level Alfredo di Stefano as the clubs all time leading scorer with 307 notches.
Odds: Numancia 5-1, Draw 14-5, Real Madrid 4-7
Real Madrid to win 3-0 is 10-1
Raul to score first is 9-2
Raul to score at anytime is 11-10
Raul to score hat-trick is 22-1
More odds here
Prediction: Even Darren Bent could score against Numancia, so Raul should at least equal di Stefano. Real to win 3-1.
Over on Bet Offside, Offshore Oscar is looking to add to his big pile of units by backing Fulham to beat Portsmouth, Schalke to beat Hannover and both Athletic Bilbao and Deportivo la Coruna to win at home. I hope Liverpool wins. But I also want to see Benitez implode like a dying star. Conflict of interests.

I almost feel like dropping a few on Landycakes to score one for kicks.
