Weekend Quiz Answers: Whose Tattoos Were Whose?

By: Laurie | October 26th, 2008

First, if you haven’t taken our tattoo quiz, stop by this post, then come back here for the answers.

You guys were good at these. All of the right answers were guessed by at least one person, except for #2. But I think Johonna figured that one out.

So who did these tattoos belong to?

Tattoo #1

Fabio Cannavaro, Real Madrid and Italy

I’ve decided I want to move to Italy. Their magazine covers are so much more interesting than ours. Also, I believe that the tattoo is a samurai, but as Daryl pointed out, there is an uncanny resemblance to Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez. Coincidence? I think not.

(Thanks for the photo, Louise!)

Tattoo #2

Marco Borriello, AC Milan

I am told this tattoo goes down a lot further, but I’ll only believe it if I see photographic proof.

Tattoo #3

Francesco Totti, AS Roma

The tattoo is nice, but it was the flowing locks that made me giggle. Pirlo, eat your heart out.

Tattoo #4

Natasha Kai, USWNT

I wondered if anybody would be able to step away from their male-oriented preconceptions to recognize Ms. Kai’s sleeve. Shane got it in the first guess. Well done!

Tattoo #5

Fernando Torres, Liverpool

What do you think? Is this written in Elvish?

Tattoo #6

David Beckham, LA Galaxy. Or AC Milan. Or whatever.

I cut off the names “Romeo” and “Cruz” when I cropped the photo, because that kind of would have given it away.

Tattoo #7

Daniele de Rossi, AS Roma

Not quite sure what this is. Chris thinks it’s his daughter. Or maybe a Teletubby.

Tattoo #8

Djibril Cisse, Sunderland

What’s that you say? He’s naked in that second photo? Gosh, I…um…hadn’t noticed. I was completely occupied with examining the tattoos.

(The funniest part about this photo is that the first time I saw it, Cisse was recovering from his second broken leg. And — after noticing that Djibril has the longest thighbone in history, of course — the first thing I found myself doing was examining his leg muscles and trying to decide if he was match fit again. I am so boring.)

Yep, Torres's tattoo is Elvish letters. It's "Fernando" written in Quenya mode (which due to the sound structures of the languages involved will generally do quite neatly for Spanish given a few additions).
  • just a tip for monday: the return of Corinthians to first division.
  • Maybe the tatto artist inserted his needle a little too deep, and that's what making "l'homme de verre" so injury-prone.
