Weekend Quiz: Managers as Players

By: Laurie | December 6th, 2008

Today our Quiz is on managers (or coaches) in their playing days.

I didn’t make this one all that hard, just because seeing these guys is so much fun, and I think you’ll enjoy looking at high-level managers more than, say, someone from Belgium’s third division. I won’t guarantee that all of them are currently employed, but all have managed a higher-level team/club at least in the past year or two.

Leave your guesses in the comments. Answers tomorrow.

Manager 1

Manager 2

Manager 3

Manager 4

Manager 5

Manager 6

Manager 7

Manager 9

Manager 10

I just want to point out that picture 5 (who we all know is Fabio Capello), is not a picture of him in his playing days, that’s a picture of him when he first took over Roma as manager.

Here’s a picture of him as a player:

Manager 1 – Raymond Domenech: Out! Out! He’s a symbol of betray on behalf of the F.F.F. against the 1998 World Cup team. I wan’t Deschamps!!!

Manager 4 – Bernd Schuster: OUUUTTT!!! What a horrible coach, He’s knows nothing about tactics.

Manager 5 – Fabio Capello: By Far the best coach in the world next to Blanc :) , he should have remained manager of Madrid.

Thanks, Francesco. I had the feeling that one was too good to be true — a twenty-something looking sixty. I figured it was an Italian thing. :-) (Just kidding.)
