Weekend Quiz: Six Degrees of Footy Obsession
By: Laurie | June 20th, 2009
As I’ve said the last two weeks, we’re trying out new things in our Weekend Quiz. This week?
Six Degrees of Footy Obsession.
If you’re familiar with the movie “Six Degrees of Separation” or the game “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” you know where I’m going with this. Both the movie and the game theorize that every person in the world is separated from every other person by just six contacts. For example, you’re now three degrees from Microsoft mogul Bill Gates because 1) You’re reading my post, 2) I once met Melinda Gates and 3) Melinda is married to Bill. Got it?
Here’s one for practice.
David Beckham –> Fredy Montero
First you google Fredy and discover that he’s a Colombian striker, plays for the Seattle Sounders, used to play for Deportivo Cali. There may be several answers, but mine is:
1) Beckham played on the Galaxy with Landon Donovan
2) Donovan played on the USMNT with Kasey Keller
3) Keller plays for Seattle with Montero
I’ll figure out scoring before Sunday, but it’s something like “least amount of correct points while answering most questions.” Or something. First person with a particular answer gets the points, but anyone else can provide a different set of connections for full credit.
Basic rules: Player 1 must have played with player 2 on some team/club. But if you get creative and amuse me, I reserve the right to award random credit. For example: “Both ‘dated’ [ahem] Danielle Lloyd.” (Except that one would include approximately 97.8% of all EPL players, so that option is disallowed.)
Oh, and since this could be time-consuming and I don’t think anybody will get all of them (although I may be wrong), I don’t care if you post your answers one or two at a time. Just be sure to use the same original posting name when you come back to answer more.
Ready? Here we go. Leave answers in the comments. Scores tomorrow.
(Plus I may actually get around to re-scoring last week’s quiz for accuracy. Stay tuned.)
