Weekend Quiz: Who Were Those MLS Guys?

By: Laurie | March 22nd, 2009

First, to MLS fans: Stop by this post and make your guesses, then come back here for the answers.

(Click here for better resolution.) I expected this quiz to be hard, because we don’t play the MLS game very much with the Weekend Quizzes. And it was hard.

So I was pleased to see that at least 8 of the 12 players were guessed. (I’m traveling today and had to prepublish, so there may be one or two that came in after I hit “Post.”) And the four who weren’t guessed were probably due more to a lack of good photos available rather than a lack of ability to guess. (Seriously, it’s amazing how many more quality photos I have to choose from when I do Europe-based quizzes than when I do MLS quizzes.)

So all the more kudos to our MLS fans for guessing the ones who were guessed. Congrats to J for being our top guesser with 8/12. Nicely done! So who were those MLS guys?

Player 1

Sacha Kljestan, Chivas USA

Well done to Jen, first to see Sacha.

Player 2

Adrian Serioux, Toronto FC

No guesses for Serioux. This is definitely a case of lack of good photos. Next time I’m posting just the hair.

Player 3

Jimmy Conrad, Kansas City Wizards

Jen was also first to see Jimmy.

Player 4

Kyle Beckerman, Real Salt Lake

I wasn’t sure anybody would see Beckerman without the hair, but George spotted him early on.

Player 5

Pablo Mastroeni, Colorado Rapids

Congrats to “J“, first to see Pablo.

Player 6

Luciano Emilio, DC United

J was also first to see DC DP Emilio.

Player 7

Dwayne DeRosario, Toronto FC

Congrats to Canadian Sam, first to see the repatriated Canadian, DeRo.

Player 8

Chris Klein, LA Galaxy

Funny, Chris Klein has been one of my favorite players for nearly two years, and up until this photo I had no idea he had blue eyes. Apparently nobody else did either. No correct guesses for Klein.

Player 9

Brian Ching, Houston Dynamo

Sam was also first to see Chingy. (Rhymes with “thingy.”)

Player 10

Bobby Convey, San Jose Earthquakes

J was again to spot the back-in-the-USA Convey.

Player 11

Dane Richards, New York Red Bulls

Alas, no correct guesses for Dane, another of my favorites. And again due to a lack of quality headshots available.

Player 12

Nate Jaqua, Seattle Sounders FC

No correct guesses for Jaqua. “B” guessed Beckham — a resemblance I never saw until the guess, but they do look alike in this picture, don’t they? (Quick, Nate! Go get an underwear modeling contract!)

Thanks to all for playing! Stop by next week for a non-MLS Quiz.

Oh wow…never would have guessed serioux. I saw De Ro, but sam had already posted him. And I’m useless when it comes to other MLS teams apparently…only saw Beckerman.

    I feel so honored. ;)
I thought 8 was maybe Klein, but that smile line/wrinkle by his eye isn’t really in his new headshot, so I blame the Galaxy.
