Weekend Watch: A Blueprint for Disaster
By: Bob | October 27th, 2006
With so many games in so many leagues in so many worlds, how does one prioritize what to watch? I have no clue, but here are some games I suggest you keep an eye on this weekend…
Saturday
YFK Shinnik Yaroslav vs. Spartak Moscow – Want to learn how to finish last in Russia? Follow YFK’s lead and give up 33 more goals than you score. Ouch.
Boston Utd vs. Wycombe – It has been a tough year for Boston fans. First the Red Sox failed to make the playoffs and now United is sitting in the relegation zone of English League Two. At least they can still call Matt Damon their prodigal son.
Sunday
Al Ahli vs. CS Sfaxien – The Egyptian side Al Ahli is aiming to become only the third team ever to win back-to-back African Champions League titles. They face a Tunisian provincial side that defeated them earlier in the competition and that has been talking trash.
Haka Valkeakoski vs. MyPa Myllykoski – Is there a more intimidating language in the world than Finnish?
Houston vs. Chivas USA – After an exciting match in LA, the Dynamo enters the second leg of their playoff series down a goal but they should be buoyed by playing in front of the 35 or so people who show up to watch this one.
Colo Colo vs. Universidad de Chile – Expect to read a post about fan violence on Monday following this encounter between two Chilean sides that aren’t going to be singing Kumbaya with one another for 90 minutes.
Pohang vs. Suwon – The Steelers of Pohang are in second place and right on the heels of the Bluewings of Suwon as the K-League tries to decide a winner before there is a nuclear war.
