Weekend Watch: Singing to the Tunes of Fife
By: Bob | September 15th, 2006
Sure you might be excited by the prospect of watching four heavyweights slug it out in England, but there are plenty of other games this weekend that deserve your attention too….
Saturday
East Fife vs. Berwick – Don’t look now but East Fife is on top of the Scottish third division table and watching them play will be music to your ears.
Chiapas vs. Atlas – The top two teams in Mexico’s Group 1 table square off in a match that should thrill Zapatistas and non-Zapatistas alike.
Coventry vs. Leeds – It doesn’t seem that long ago when Leeds wasn’t a team in the relegation zone in the Championship.
Luch Energiya vs. FC Moscow – Our Fan for a Match losing streak is going to come to an end when our lads destroy those caviar-eating bastards from the big city.
Sunday
Chicago vs. DC United – Two of the more storied MLS franchises meet at Chicago’s spiffy new stadium. The Fire’s Nate Jaqua might just be the best player in the world named Nate.
AS Nancy Lorraine vs. Rennes – That team from Lorraine is full of nothing but Nancy boys.
Heerenveen vs. NEC Nijmegen – The Dutch should export some of their vowels to Eastern Europe.
Steaua Bucharest vs. Rapid Bucharest – Nothing like a good old fashioned derby to get the heart pumping on a Sunday in Romania.
