Weight loss dilemma: Three hours of sex or supporting your team for 90 minutes?

swedish-fans.jpgOver the years there have been some truly bizarre weight loss plans like the one where you are supposed eat nothing but bacon for months. There’s also the diet plan of the WAGs where you eat a Tic Tac every fifth day. All of these plans wouldn’t be needed if instead of sitting around worrying about your weight you did something about it. Like engage in three hours of sex or support a team at a soccer game.

In what has to be one of the most unnecessary studies of all time, the website 118Footie.com has found that supporting your team for 90 minutes is an excellent way of burning calories.

Supporting a club could be the new way to keep fit – using up as many calories as three hours of sex or running for 40 minutes, new research suggests.

On average, each fan burnt between 1,000 and 1,145 calories a match cheering on their team last season, the study of Premiership fans showed.

It is roughly equivalent to the calories in two Big Macs or eight cans of beer.

In other words, it is roughly the equivalent to what most fans consume during a game so call it a wash, stay home and try that three-hour sex weight loss plan instead.

  • how can you lose weight supporting your team with the amount of beer invested into a match? forget it. I'll stick to the sex part.
  • I officially volunteer to run these studies. At least the sex part.
  • The question remains: Who's paying these people to make such ridiculous studies?

    Pretty hilarious though...
