What are you trying to say here?
By: Bob | May 8th, 2007
I know next to nothing about the Norwegian football league, but thanks to their excellent English language skills I now know that VIF Fredrikstad supporters are not so keen about Lyn Oslo. She must be a real bitch. I also now know that VIF might just be my new favorite team in Norway. Do you suppose the 200 fans underneath that banner had any clue what it said? Thanks to Nando at DC United Offside for the tip.

Personally I like Tromso. Situated approx 120miles inside the artic circle, I went there when Chelsea played and Chelsea lost 3-2. The greatest memory of the night was play being stopped twice for snow to be cleared from the touchlines. Incidentially Chelsea won back in London two weeks later 7-1.

VIF and Fredrikstad are two separate teams. VIF stands for Vålerenga Idretts Forening and their supporters “Klanen” (the Clan) are responsible for the banner. VIF are from Oslo and they and Lyn have a huge rivalry and there are often banners at the derby games between the two.
Vålerenga IF won the Tippeligaen in 2005, the first time in 13 years a team other than Rosenborg (RBK) have won the league. RBK won the league again in 2006.
Fredrikstad is a town 90 minutes outside of Oslo and they also play in the Norwegian Tippeligaen (Premier League). They have no link with Vålerenga.

Kristoffer - Thanks for the information. Like I said, I don’t know much about Norway’s football but it is fun learning about it.
Cheers
