barn them from play or play them without pay, like 3 weekly wages

and if he is not valuable sell his ass, and bring in players who want to win. fergie did it with beckam and RVN.

there is not excuse for lack of work ethics

Hawk, can't that have the opposite effect as well? Say United makes Ronaldo sit in an important match and they lose. Then all the power is in his hands, and he is more free than ever to behave as he wishes.

I really believe that the only real answer is to adopt the "no man is bigger than the club" approach. If a player shows up late, ruins team morale, and generally acts as if the club is lucky to have him, then let another club be the happy ones.

I would rather keep a squad of competitive individuals longing for opportunities than I would see it all go to shit over the ego of an overhyped teenager.

people need to get over this notion that everybody be treated equally... certain players deserve different treatment than other players... star players should not be treated like bench/role players or vice versa..... you should be treated based on your performance and importance to a squad... all this petty "thats not fair!" attitude isnt effective... yes star players can some times be spoiled.. but why are they spoiled? because thats how they were created! you give a player a big contract, make him the face of the club, he is the best player on the squad, tell him how great he is, and then you want to complain when he shows up 5 minutes late to training?...

thats why they are the star players.. everybody has a role that they must play... the only thing that should matter, is how they perform on the pitch... as long as their performance level stays high, then yes you should be allowed to get away with certain things that a role/bench player should not..

Punish them with something big and unexpected. Not playing them in an important fixture for example. It will weaken your team but it will show them your not bluffing and they will get scared and not do it again. Or transfer.

Alex Ferguson seems to be great at sorting the big things out. Like selling RVN and Stam over their respective disciplinary issues. It's sickening to see young guys who years ago had very little change into such arrogant and ungrateful bastards in the space of 2 or 3 years.

They don't realize how lucky they have it...
