When LEGO Meets Soccer
By: Daryl | December 26th, 2008
I had no idea there were so many football-related LEGO creations out there, and the time and planning it must have taken to stick the bricks together to recreate the stadiums below is mind-boggling.
It’s also pretty damn impressive, so keep reading to see five football stadiums made out of LEGO (including the massive Fritz Walter Stadion) one iconic moment and – best of all in my opinion – the 1974 World Cup Final made entirely out of LEGO.
Fritz Walter Stadion, home of Kaiserslauten:

Maine Road, former home of Man City:

Allianz Arena, home of Bayern Munich and 1860:

La Bombonera, home of Boca Juniors:

Parken, home of FC Copenhagen and the Danish national team:

Diego Maradona vs Peter Shilton, 1986

World Cup Final 1974 – Germany vs Netherlands:
And here’s what they won:

A few more stadiums here, though one of them appears to be an aerial photograph of Wembley, which is a bit confusing. Also, BigSoccer has a LEGO thread here.

Most entertaining part of this post: “BigSoccer has a Lego thread.”
Because soccer fans in America aren’t considered nerdy enough.

Since they did Lego Star Wars and Super Mario Strikers, I really can’t wait to see what a Lego Soccer game would look like…

The 74 final is astounding.

I’d like to think that was the expression Maradona actually had on his face when he scored “La Mano de Dios”.
(And yes, the 74 final was really quite well done.)
