Soccer + Volleyball + Amazing Martial Arts = Awesomeness

By: Daryl | February 15th, 2008

I honestly thought Bob had cornered the market on bizarre variations of football. Once you’ve seen Elephant Soccer and Bungee Soccer things really can’t get any bigger or any bouncier. But they can get more martial artier.

The video above is what happens when you cross football, volleyball and martial arts. It’s called Sepak Takraw and it is amazing. Apparently the game is played with a rattan ball, which players have to keep from hitting the floor using only their feet and head. It’s all the rage in in Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Philippines and Indonesia. Imagine if your average Premiership striker (and by average, I mean Dirk Kuyt) could pull off volleys like above? Actually he’d get whistled for dangerous play, but it would still be impressive.

You’re right mele. Here it is. Unbelievable!

Haha I laughed out loud when I saw this, we’ve been playing this in our Phy Ed class for a couple of weeks now. Its not fun at all unless you are ridiculously good, otherwise just a lot of kicking the ball off the side of your foot and out of play

It looks like it’s great on the knees… I’m sure Ronaldo is really keen on playing it now that he’s off the pitch for a while!
