You have to be a bit batty to choose to spend your waking hours standing in goal while players pummel you with shots. When he isn’t busy making saves or scoring miracle goals, he likes to practice being a football commentator during matches.
The 37-year-old veteran keeper Crossley explains: “Every keeper has routines to his game that help with this and I like to commentate throughout the match. Even when the ball goes into the crowd, I commentate on that! It’s something I’ve tried to teach the youngsters to do.”
One can only imagine the choice words Crossley uses to describe the goals that are scored on him.
Here’s a listen at what the future voice of English football sounds like. The clip is worth watching just to hear him explain how he came up with the idea to use a kicking tee during goal kicks.
